VOLUNTEERS & MAINTENANCE TEAM UPDATE 22/5/2013

This week we had 13 Volunteers out working.Suzan and Keith worked on the new Petanc Court, whilst Adrian,Baz,Bob,Ken,Mounim,Ron,Roy,and Simon spread the gravel along the side of the Dual Carriageway.
The bucket raised an excellent 208 Euros thanks to Helen’s “bucket dance” and Jade’s smile.Thank you to everyone who donated,and to Jo for the bacon butties
On Monday the Maintenance Team cleaned,weeded,and sprayed C4,Calles Aralia,Bailen,and San Juan.
Wednesday saw the Team on the road alongside the Rambla,and gravelling with the Volunteers.

VOLUNTEERS & MAINTENANCE TEAM UPDATE 15/5/2013

This week our Volunteers numbered 16,a tremendous turnout.
Caroline,Neil,and new Volunteer Paddy tended the area by the Welcome Wall,while Mounim watered that area.
Suzan and Keith,just out from the UK,spread the gravel around the windmill feature,whilst Ken strimmed the area from Sensol Villas office down the dual carriageway in order for Adrian,Badr,Bob,Roy,Simon,and Bob’s
son Simon,out on holiday,started the gravelling of that area.
Sue and Jade manned the buckets which collected 193.41 Euros,thanks to all who donated,and all who gave their time.
The Maintenance Team on Monday were on C3,Calles Alcaudette,Azaleas and Bugambilla,and C4 Calle
Baeza,as well as spraying areas on C2 and CI.
On Wednesday we welcomed our first lady to the Team,Jade who lives on Calle Retame,and the Team
prepared the ground for the Volunteers to gravel later in the morning.

This week we had 13 Volunteers out.New Volunteers from C16,Deborah and Chris helped Colin clear around our new windmill,in preparation for gravelling around it.Bernard repaired some more potholes,whilst Adrian,Badr,
Bob,Ken,and Simon pruned the palm trees on the dual carriageway.Caroline and Neil weeded and tended the plants around the Welcome Wall,whilst Mounim watered all the newly planted areas.
The bucket collection was a very genorous 182.98 Euros,thanks to all who donated.
The Maintenance Team on Monday,cleaned,weeded,and sprayed C3,Calles Retame,Alcala la Real,and Azaleas,whilst the whole of C2 was sprayed with weed killer.On Wednesday they assisted with the pruning of the palms.

VOLUNTEERS & MAINTENANCE TEAM UPDATE 24/4/2013

This week we had 13 Volunteers out,Caroline and Neil continued the good work around the Welcome Wall,which is beginning to get established despite the fact that we are having plants stolen from there.
Bernard repaired the potholes in the road at the junction of Calles Ubeda and Ibiscum,and Adrian led the rest of the Volunteers,Bob,Colin,Ken,Moumin,Simon,and Ron,along with new Volunteers Helen and Baz in clearing the area around the petanc court on Calle Ibiscum.
Jo as usual did a great job on the bacon butties,and thanks to all who came out today for the best turnout for a while.
The bucket was 155-96 Euros,thanks to all who donated.
The Maintenance Team worked on C1 this week.Calles Alcala La Real,Ibiscum,Retame,and Azaleas were cleaned,
weeded,and sprayed.

This week we had 6 Volunteers out clearing an area on the corner of the dual carriageway and Calle Castillo Mayorazgo where a new feature will shortly be installed.Thanks to Adrian
Bernard,Colin,Ken,and our new boy Moumin.
Thanks to Jo for the bacon sandwiches,and to all who contributed to another wonderful bucket collection of 200.68 Euros.Fantastic genourosity.
On Monday The Maintenance Team cleaned,weeded,and sprayed Calle Ibiscum on C2,and Calles
Alcaudette,Azaleas,Alcala La Real,and Ibiscum on C2.Then on Wednesday finished the cleaning of the road alongside the Rambla to the bridge.

Camposol ‘C’ Green Fingers Gardening and Social Group

Phew! Our ration of ‘red’ rain took a lot of clearing up this month but was very welcome as far as the newly planted trees and shrubs go. Our team managed to clear flood waters from the Rambla road towards the bridge and by the time this appears in print, the bitter winds, frost(!), and the clearing of mud and sand will be just a distant memory…but the plants will have had another month of much drier weather to contend with, so if you can spare any time and water to help those near your villa, it will be much appreciated!

The ‘Welcome to C’ wall feature is looking lovely after being weeded and improved by new planting, and this month sees more of our tidying up of kerbs and pavement repairs after Aqualia fix the numerous bursts (but just leave the soil and blocks in a pile nearby!!!). Together with the cleaning of our streets this really has improved our sector this Spring. The weed spraying programme has been postponed until the high winds pass but we will have caught up by the time this goes to press – Without the maintenance team on Mondays and our dedicated volunteers who turn out every Wednesday, this work simply wouldn’t get done and the pavements and roads would once more be overgrown with weeds as in the past, so if you are interested in joining Green Fingers you would be very welcome! Our volunteers meet every Wednesday morning at the Sensol Villas offices (old Masa hoiuse) on the dual carriageway and have a breakfast break with free bacon or sausage butties as a bonus!

Many thanks must go to all who regularly support the maintenance scheme each month, with a special mention for Greg Green from Sensol Villas and Drew Ryder for their particular generosity, and to all of those who kindly donate a little to our bucket when they see us out and about. There are so many ways you can help us even if you can’t afford a monetary donation; our volunteers are always grateful for drinks and we are happy to have your unwanted plants or decorative pots (chipped or broken is fine) to decorate the borders which can either be left behind the ‘Wecome to C’ wall or call John and we will arrange collection from your villa. We would also appreciate any unwanted gifts from the festive season which may be lurking at the back of the cupboard – they are always suitable to raise money in our raffles!

We would like to invite everyone to our Annual General Meeting held at the Golf Club on 15th April at 3pm; please come along and put your views forward! Also, we are holding a Social Night with J.P.Vincent on 19th April at the Golf Club with music to suit everyone and a raffle – should be a great evening so come and support us and have fun at the same time! This week we only managed to get 5 Volunteers out.Adrian,Badr,Ken,and Phil cleared weeds in the area around the new petanc court.
Jo, as usual,did an excellent job on the bacon butties,and the bucket collection was a healthy 164.99 Euros,once again thanks to everyone who so generously contributed.
The Maintenance team were down to two on Monday,but still managed to clean and weed
Calles Andujar,Arjona and Ibiscum on C1.Wednesday saw us back to normal strength and the road alongside the rambla from the bridge to the Welcome Wall was cleaned and weeded,including the mess left by the bridge repairers.

This week we had 7 Volunteers out,they cleared and weeded the area on and around the new petanc pitch. Thanks to Adrian,Badr,Bernard,Colin,Phil,and Simon for their time and effort,and apologies to Bernard who I missed off last week’s report.
Thanks to Jo for the butties,and to everyone who contributed to the fabulous bucket collection of 201.26 Euros.
On Monday,the Maintenance Team cleaned,weeded,and sprayed Calles Puerto Lumbreras
and Retame.On Wednesday Calle Azaleas was similarly treated,and C3 and C4,were sprayed.
