The Green Fingers Gardening and Social Group Annual General Meeting was held on 13th May at the Club House, Sector C, all residents of C Sector were invited to attend

Before official business matters a presentation was made to the Green Fingers team by Jane Taylor the administrator of the Preguntas y Mas Facebook site. The award was accepted by a “lost for words” John Osborne (Chairman) on behalf of the Team

John welcomed everyone to the meeting and the first item on the agenda was the minutes of the last AGM which were agreed and accepted as a true record
John gave his Chairman’s Report on the past year which had been the biggest to date in terms of projects completed, plantings, social events, etc. John expressed he thanks to everyone and to all those who support Green Fingers
John then presented the Treasurer’s Report … copies of which were made available for attendee’s and which had been independently audited by Greg Green (Sensol Golf Villa Sales)

John invited the current Committee to step down and Greg Green took over the Chair … Greg asked for nominations for the Chairman role and John Osborne was voted in by those at the meeting

The process then continued for the other Committee roles with the following been nominated and voted in:
Secretary – Coral Barras
Treasurer – Margaret Harris
Social Secretary – Lesley Dunton
Information Officer – Suzie Sambuca
Committee/Poligono Representatives were confirmed (no voting required)
A full list of names can be found on the Green Fingers website
John outlined the objectives for the year ahead stating next year will be one of consolidation … we shall see!

John opened the meeting to attendee’s and a short question and answer session followed

Ken Newton proposed Mark Hepworth for the role of Vice Chairman which was confirmed by a show of hands

John closed the meeting by thanking the Team, everyone at the meeting and all those who support Green Fingers

This is only a summary report of the proceedings and full minutes will be available at a later date

On Monday Jade and John2 cleaned & weeded areas on C6/7 and continued clearing weeds  on the corner near the open area, whilst Badr continued with the extensive weed spraying programme. Ken (Joint Project Manager) was also out watering the new planters/trees
On Wednesday we had 6 volunteers … Ken watered the planters/trees; John2, Simon, Graham and myself weeded along the dual carriage way – later followed by Ken with the weed spray; Jade looked after the bucket  – amount collected will be posted later. Many thanks to Suzie for the weeks refreshements

The Leo’s club insect hotel project

The Alfa Leos Mazarrón Bahia were out & about on Camposol C Sector this morning constructing an insect hotel. Greenfingers Gardening Group approached the Leo Club with this idea some weeks ago and  supervised the Leos in this morning’s build.

1This project falls within the Leo Club International’s awareness month for raising the importance of protecting our environment & the Leos are delighted that it’s local so they can continue to monitor, improve & maintain their Buggy B&B!

Many thanks to Grant Allen (Blue Sky Terrace Furniture) for his time this morning and the use of his tools … the Leo’s all appeared to enjoy the hands-on experience!

Mark (Joint Project Manager)
