FAST GO LIVE 1ST JUNE 968 970 626.

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011
“FAST” The pioneering First Aid Support Team start operations in Spain at Camposol near Mazarron Murcia on the 1st of June.

“FAST” an organisation made up entirely out of unpaid volunteers similar to the First Responder Service in Britain, has been brought about to help bridge the gap between calling 112 for a life threatening medical emergency such as a cardiac arrest and the arrival of the ambulance service as precious minutes are lost whilst waiting for an ambulance to arrive.
Once 112 have been called, residents of Camposol can then call for support on 968 970 626 when teams of 2 responders will attend to provide First Aid such as CPR and very soon defibrillation the most effective method of re starting an arrested heart and significantly improving the patient survival rates by up to 80%
The volunteers who all live in Camposol have received training from the Red Cross in Spain and train regularly at the new Camposol Community Centre recently provided by the Ayuntimiento of Mazarron,
The team are seen here outside of the Community Centre following the Pre Commencement meeting attended by PALS chairman Ken Payne shown on the left handing one of the Trauma Bags provided by “PALS” to “FAST” Co ordinator Kaz Moore.
Glen Ford the Communications Officer of “FAST” said, we are proud of the team and how far they have come since the idea started in January of this year, it will make Camposol a safer place for all and provide a base from which the service could grow across the whole of Spain by helping to preserve life in remote or difficult to access areas until the professionals arrive. None of this would have been possible without the full support of PALS who provide protection and life saving equipment to the area, we are indebted to Ken and his team.

Be aware the gas men scam

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

Please be aware there are 3 men going round in a white Berlingo van reg A0389EN asking to check your gas connection.

They checked my neighbours and charged him over 200€.

If this was official the company would have made an appointment and not cold called. DSCI0093.JPG

Water off for 1 day please read and tell everyone.

Sunday, May 29th, 2011

I have been informed that the water supply to the whole of the Mazarron area will be off from Midnight on 31st May for 24 hours.
That means no water at all on the 1st JUNE
I have not been told the reason why but will attempt to find out.
regards Bob

First Aid Support Team (Camposol)

We are delighted to announce that F.A.S.T. will commence the first phase of this service on

the 1st of JUNE 2011.

This service will help bridge the gap between calling 112 for a serious medical emergency* and the arrival of an ambulance, for all residents and holidaymakers of Camposol. (*A life threatening situation such as heart attack, stroke, electrocution, drowning, unconsciousness or major bleed)

This is a free service run entirely by unpaid volunteers who will strive to ensure that we

“Make Camposol a Safer Place to Live and Holiday.”

We would like to thank those volunteers for taking part and wish them every success in what will be at times a very challenging role.

Initial training which was completed this week has solely covered basic core skills around CPR.

Although this is a humble start, it will as the volunteers progress be built upon until we reach our goal of being fully trained to Spanish standard in Defibrillation and Oxygen administration. Once at that stage we will then be able to make a more significant impact upon cardiac arrest. So that as little time as possible is wasted whilst waiting for an ambulance.

Shortly leaflets and cards will be available giving the telephone number to be called after contacting 112, please look out for them or contact us at the email address or on the following“Non Emergency” telephone numbers Tel 626 823 081 or 634 313 572 email atfastcamposol@hotmail.com

Whilst these leaflets are free, it would help us significantly if anyone who can, makes a small donation or a little more if you can afford it, to help us fund printing costs and support replenishment of vital equipment-

The leaflet should be left near your Telephone or in a handy place in case of a serious medical emergency

Please remember to ALWAYS CALL 112 BEFORE you telephone F.A.S.T. or take any other action.

F.A.S.T. 24 HOUR – 7 DAYS PER WEEK EMERGENCY PHONE NUMBER 968 970 626

But please…..DO NOT USE THE F.A.S.T. EMERGENCY NUMBER FOR ANYTHING EXCEPT AN EMERGENCY so that our volunteers are not impeded in helping those who really need it.

This is a pioneering venture in Spain that we are sure with time will build in strength and ability. We also believe this will help to encourage similar ventures all over Spain. “Making Spain a safer place to live and holiday”

None of this would be possible without the fantastic support from many of our supporters, principally our partners at PALS who have given us unequalled backing, Councillor Galvez, The Red Cross (Spain) www.simply networking.es, Costa Calida Chronicle, Costa Calida Radio, Sol Times, The CRA, D sector,C sector, Compusurf, (Camposol Computers) The Line Dancing Group, The Tea Pot, Trevi Bar, Biggy Marshall our translator and many more besides. A sincere Thank You to you all!
The F.A.S.T. Committee.

Good luck to all the FAST team from Green Fingers.

GREENFINGERS GARDENING & SOCIAL GROUP

AGM 2011

HELD ON 21st APRIL AT THE GOLF CLUB

CHAIRMAN: Mr Bernard Holland

1)  Bernie opened the meeting with a welcome address to the 22 people present.

2)  Meetings:

Bernard attended a meeting along with CRA and other gardening group’s representatives with the Guardia Civil to discuss security and other issues. Information is available on the Greenfingers website and you are also able to ring the Guardia Civil direct on 986 594 103. Alternatively, you can ring 112 and say “habla ingles”, but the call goes to the local police initially who then contact the Guardia Civil.

Bernard also attended a meeting with the Mayor, Sñr Blaya Blaya, and other representatives of groups on Camposol who informed him that the Town Hall now have a solicitor working full time on the problems of Camposol and Masa. Since 15th April the Town Hall has been in charge of Camposol and Masa has been removed as the developer, Town council are too set up a separate company to run Camposol but under control of the council. The council are pursuing Masa for monies to put the urbanization into the order needed, prior to adoption and issuing of Certificates of Habitation etc.

The Council has not been paid by Masa for approximately one and a half years for the collection of Rubbish.

The collection of Water Bills should transfer to the Council during the months of May/June.

3)    Bernie talked about the events held and the monies raised to fund the work that has been carried out during the last year. See Balance sheet for details.

4)    Bernie sincerely thanked all those workers who have come out over the last year, giving their time and effort to beautifying and improve Sector C, also to Norma and Jo for making the bacon sandwiches and to Bill Shepherded for auditing the accounts.

5)    FAST:  Bernie has spoken with FAST – the First Aid Response Team who are close to starting up on all the poligonos to be the nearest response to medical emergencies as often the ambulance can take a little time and treatment in the first few minutes of some situations can mean the difference quite literally between life and death.

FAST has 38 volunteers at the moment and hopes to be operational by 1st June 2011.

Bernie suggested that Greenfingers donate 50€ towards the cost of Sweat shirts that they are buying, which motion was unanimously carried.

6)    Mr Bill Natas has donated a table and chairs to be placed beside the old Petanca Court, adjacent to C-1.

7)    MATERIALS: Bernie told us that 340 tonnes of gravel and hardcore had been laid by the teams over the last year together with 2600 sq.m of permeable membrane.

Also, there were olive trees and lots of plants plus water butts.etc……………………….

-2-

8)    MEMBERSHIP: The cost of membership is now 5€ each person.

9)    PINE TREES: Bernie reported that the Council, Jaqui Galvez in particular, were embarrassed as the promised Pine Trees were only 12 cms tall. We have received 300, some of which will be planted on various corners and perimeters around the C-Sector.

10) NEWLETTERS: Kim will no longer sponsor them as gardeners groups functions impinge on her business, of putting on entertainment at the Golf Club etc

11) PETANCA COURT C7: Mrs Barbara Boyes has volunteered to look after the Court. She can be contacted on 968 971 890 or 686 171 086 or barbaraboyes@hotmail.com

12) Bernie said the ‘Joint operations’ with Sector D for some projects had been mooted, but had been turned down by them as they are also having problems finding volunteers and workers.

13) Bernie said that if sufficient volunteers are not forthcoming, how would the meeting feel about going to ‘GO MAD’ and employing an Ecuadorian for a few hours one day a week? The general feeling was that it was a last resort, BUT providing the person worked solidly and did ‘as asked’, it would be acceptable.

14)  Bernie has said he wants to step down as Chairman, but was asked by Lesley Dunton whether he would consider staying for at least one more year if a committee took on most of his tasks, freeing up his time. He said he would consider that proposal.

15)  Bernie asked for volunteer to serve on the new Committee.

The following have volunteered:

Roz and Dave John                968 199 703/635 355 138               davidjohn1942@hotmail.co.uk

Lesley Dunton                         968 199 966/669 047 116               lesleyanndunton@hotmail.co.uk

Malcolm Ely                              672 864964                                       malcolmely@googlemail.com

Adrian Denner                         968 979 826                                  neptuno534@hotmail.com

John Osborne                          01352 876500/634 325 427           johnofjustshoes@hotmail.co.uk

Margaret and Peter                  Please contact us with your surname & telephone numbers

16) A Vote of Thanks was proposed for all the hard work, time and effort that Bernie has given to the setting-up, organizing and running Greenfingers since its inception. Said proposal was unanimously carried and Bernie given a rousing cheer and applause.

17) It was agreed that a Committee Meeting would be called as soon as possible.

18) Meeting closed after all being thanked for attending.

We have had a result check this out.

Friday, May 13th, 2011

The council are taking action against the lorries and the pig farm plus the entrance is illegal and needs to be closed but it will take sometime due to the paperwork involved.

This is a result and common-sense  as the C Sector does not want industrial wagons breaking up the road and making a mess when its been raining depositing mud on the road.

Can you help the people of Lorca.

Friday, May 13th, 2011
I have received the email below from Ken Payne of PALS.

Hi

I wish I had time to talk to each of you but thats just not possible I think that we as a community can really show solidarity with our friends and neighbours by helping with the recent Earthquake disaster in Lorca. I have spoken to steve Tucker of Costa Calida International; Radio and we think that with help of friends such as you can arrange and put on a show to raise funds for the people in the affected area. It could have been in Mazarron and thank God it wasent. So I am trying to get avenue for maybe the end of next week to deal with the public and need your help in your various capacities to achieve this. So first are you prepared to help, this is not an ego trip no charity or individual will be ‘up front’ but we have the expertise, the talent and the drive to achieve this, its going to be really tight we need venue, sound equipment  advertising artistes across the entertainment spectrum and we will get together a really great event for a trully worthwhile cause.

Please let me know if you are willing to participate and at what level

ken

my telephone is 626460465 but I expect to be busy on that so email is maybe better. Once we have a venue a meeting to get it moving is required again another  venue for that, lets help those people, our neighbours in their despair
