F.A.S.T. Public Meeting 7th March

Sunday, February 27th, 2011

FAST intend to provide a service to Camposol residents that will help bridge any gap between calling 112 for serious medical emergencies (such as cardiac arrest major bleeds or unconsciousness) and the arrival of professional help by providing a separate telephone number that will be staffed by volunteers 24/7 who will respond as FAST as possible to the location of the casualty and then provide basic first aid and defibrillation as well as moral support for the spouse or partner at such a difficult time.

All Committee members have now taken their first First Aid Training in Spain with the Red Cross and we are now ready to commence selection of volunteers to run the service, swiftly to be followed by further training for all involved. However, this can only work if we can get sufficient people to volunteer their time to take on call out duties.

The public meetings for people interested in becoming FAST volunteers are 28 Feb and 07 Mar, upstairs in Trevi’s Bar , Camposol Commercial Sector B, 1330hrs.

Applicants should be in good health and physically fit,

Able to work as part of a reliable team,

Have a full driving license and access to a legal and roadworthy vehicle whilst in duty.

Successful applicants will receive First Aid Training completed by The Red Cross and will need to pass all courses that will be arrange for them, starting with the basics and then building upon that.

This is a pioneering venture here in Spain and something we could not only be proud of but the thought of helping to save even just one life would make it all worthwhile.

Whilst FAST is a volunteer service and will be free to all Camposol residents. We will have some operating costs to cover so we will soon be asking for some donations from The Public, Organisations and Businesses in order to fund the relatively small operating costs. Anyone who wishes to contribute to this should contact us on fastcamposol@hotmail.com or look out for our collecting tins and buckets at strategic points in Camposol in the future

And finally, Many thanks to our media partners and volunteers who are helping to spread the word about FAST.

Many Thanks, Glen Ford

An Apology

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011

Hi Everyone,

I´m pretty new to this site as I have only been directed here by Bernard Holland and Brian Rogers, unfortunately it was due to something I have done which seems to have had quite a negative effect on your community. The misdemeanour in question was the application of stickers on lamposts in sectors A & B advertising my business.

Clearly this has offended a lot of people, obviously which was not my intention. I now apologise for any offence caused and will not now continue with my plans of stickering C & D. You are all doing a fantastic job in making Camposol look much better and I can see the points that Brian & Bernard raised with me as valid reasons for not wanting this type of advertising everywhere. I would also like to say that what you are doing is a benefit not only to those of you who do the work but to everyone who lives on the estate. Great job guys, keep it up! Thank you.

After chatting with Brian, Bernard and Jackie (CRA)  it has been suggested to me that perhaps the best and least offensive form of advertising would be through the gardening groups websites. I have now placed my details in the discount club pages of the CRA´s website and I am offering a 10% discount to all it´s members for my locksmith services. I would like to take this opportunity to extend this discount to anyone who reads this post from any of the gardening groups. I also do translation work, window shutter repair, painting, block paving and other odd jobs which I will also happily discount for any of the gardening group members.

Once again, apologies for any offence caused and I would much rather work with the gardening groups than against them.

Steve Fitzsimmons.

p.s save my number as you may not have access to your PC if your locked out or lock your car keys in the boot when your at Mercadona.  it´s 666 367  594.

I ALSO URGE EVERYONE TO LOOK OUT FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE OUT OF PLACE IN OUR ESTATE, IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBTS THEN CALL THE POLICE ON 112.

LADIES ON THIER OWN ARE VERY VULNERABLE SO LADIES, PLEASE, PLEASE TAKE CARE, DO NOT SPEAK TO OR ANSWER QUESTIONS FROM STRANGERS. IF IN DOUBT ASK SOMEONE FOR HELP AND EVEN KEEP DRIVING IF YOU THINK YOU ARE BEING FOLLOWED.
