Dear CRA Member,
We recently met with the Camposol Action Group, where they brought us up-to-date with their campaign.
Although the CRA is not directly involved with the Camposol Action Group, we like to keep our members informed of all local issues. We detail below a summary of their background and current situation.
CAMPOSOL ACTION GROUP
Frustrated with the lack of response from Masa to put right the serious structural defects of their properties and aware that there were many other owners in the same situation, Mary and Michael Pouncey and Barb and Derek Dickinson formed the Camposol Action Group. There are now 70 members of the group and they are keen to recruit more. The group is open to all owners who believe their property has structural problems or those which are showing early signs of structural problems.
The objective is to take the identified parties to court to get full remedial works actioned or the applicable rebuild monies awarded or if appropriate to reach an out of court settlement for owners.
For the avoidance of any doubt, taking part in the action will not impact on ownership of the affected properties. If awarded monies the owner will have the option of investing the money into the property or keeping the money to set off against their loss.
The Camposol Action Group has negotiated discounted legal fees in stage payments for the members of the group. The fees are scaled on the number of participants, the more members there are the lower the individual fee.
The group’s outlook appears promising; the following extract was reported in The EuroWeeklyNews on 6th September.
A meeting held by the Camposol Action Group in August proved to be very positive with both the surveying and legal representatives confirming that a strong case for recompense exists with regards to structural defects affecting many properties.
From initial talks less than six months ago, real progress has now been made and serious action is now going ahead, using more comprehensive legal and technical methodology than previously attempted, with a view to maximising the chances of a successful outcome for owners.”
Time is now running out for new members to join; the group need to progress to the next stage in the legal proceedings. Therefore a deadline has to be set; the closing date is 1st October 2010.
